further evidence that I am no Einstein
by zoss in introflectionI was complaining about distractions to a dear knowledgable friend, when he related this anecdote (which claims access to Einstein’s thoughts, but which I have no other reason to discount or discredit. So, I take it with a grain of salt, for its point is valid):
“What do you think Einstein thought-about while tying his shoes?” He asked. “I have no idea!”, I exclaimed. He paused for a second, letting me examine it for another second before he added “He thought about tying his shoes.” — point well made, I thought.
I was reminded of this incident once more, when I was researching an important and pressing question for an academic thesis I was presenting, and all I could think about was: chicken sushi would be a great idea!

You’re really into far eastern food, eh :)

I do savour asian cuisine — but doesn’t everyone think chicken sushi would be a great idea? :)

Chicken sushi! If chicken can swim, then maybe. But then who said Einestein’s think the same as the rest of us.

actually: “sushi is exclusively seafood” is somewhat of a myth. For example, the wikipedia entry on sushi claims:
Sushi is also made with veggi, beef, and ham. I’ve seen rib sushi, which is a shame because ribs and sushi to me are two opposite ends of a spectrum (or maybe it’s a sour-grapes argument cause I don’t eat ribs). Granted, raw chicken would not be a good idea (Salmonella et. al.) but maybe thin strips of smoked chicken, or marinated, or bbq, or something of the sorts — I could go for a lemon-chicken-maki right now :)
The thinking part: I’m planning a post on one aspect of difference in thinking between different people, but I’d like to hear what you’ve got..

You weren’t kidding when you said you were into asian cuisine! I personally love it to, and the only reason I eat sushi is the fish. So start putting chicken and beef (not to mention ham) there, and I’m on hunger strike.
How people think and how they innovate? that’s a big topic. But you must be doing alot of that in your research –thinking. Can’t be more fun, so doesn’t hurt to have sushi on mind while researching an academic question.
(oh, I’m drewling on those pictures in the wiki article)

What is your thesis about?
Comment by Mohamed — 28/7/2005 @ 15:18
I would say something technical/scientific, ece.
Comment by Marcus — 28/7/2005 @ 15:21
You can even get horse meat sashimi … I kid you not.

Marcus; you’re not horsing around! wow — have you tried it?
Haal; my theses are:
1) There is a difference between my brain and Einstein’s
2) Chicken sushi would be great!
actually, (2) is more of a conjecture than a thesis, really.
I gotta (ehem) roll now. You guys have a rice day, and I’ll sea you next weed. I miso already.
