Popping the question(s)

by zoss in ridic-ollas, dating

Thank goodness for the nytimes wedding section. They have come up with a list of questions that couples should ask each other before marriage. Questions, which -apparently- people seldom have the presence of mind to ask, like: “4) Have we fully disclosed our health histories, both physical and mental?” “7) Will there be a television in the bedroom?” and “10) Do we like and respect each other’s friends?”

Now all you have to do is print out the article, and take it with you on dates. Maybe ask your date to take the time while you’re in the restroom to fill out the answers.

The article neglected, though, to provide model answers. I mean, how else are we going to know who to select for further interviews dates? — I should ask them about that in the comments section.

Well, yeah, they should develop some methods to evaluate answers to these questions. And yeah, you could have a form made, just in case, not to waste any of your time with irrelevant dates :P

Now, appart from the funny aspect, maybe this was intended to act as a warning sing for those marrying to fast and without thinking ahead. Marriage is, most of the times, something one should never agree to in haste.

yes, i read that. i think it makes sense…but u should probably ask those questions right before you get engaged, not on regular dates. i mean, i had never thought about the tv in the bedroom issue before…

Do I sense a bit of a reversal of roles here, forsoothsayer? Did I just try to crack a joke only for you to come back with a sober/anal response? :)

Still, in all seriousness, I find the article ridiculous. I am fine with the premise, and perhaps I side with you and Alina on that respect. My qualms are with the way it was presented, that’s all.

On the TV in the bedroom issue; which side are you on? Is it a deal breaker for you?

I guess it depends. These days I use the tv to instantly fall asleep. For that purpose, I would agree with one. :P

well i meant it…so it must be a role reversal :)

not sure about the tv in the bedroom. i’ve never had one any place i’ve ever lived. i don’t see that’s it’s so different from reading in bed tho.
